Freelance Senior Manager, People Operations

7–10 years of HR operations experience | 4 days/week | Hybrid | Antwerp / Amsterdam

As a Freelance Senior Manager in People Operations you’ll build scalable systems and develop future leaders 

This role is all about turning vision into repeatable results. You’ll design and deliver an 18-month roadmap to rebuild how People Ops works - from onboarding and compliance to workflows and systems - with a strong focus on automation and integration. You’ll partner directly with the VP People to make big decisions and bring fresh thinking. And just as importantly, you’ll coach and mentor the team to drive an independent and scalable environment.  

 

Your other responsibilities: 

  • Identify and implement automation opportunities that streamline workflows and eliminate manual tasks 
  • Improve the HR tech stack in partnership with IT, ensuring it scales with the business 
  • Support operational compliance, policies, and audits in a way that builds clarity and trust 
  • Apply product management principles (think: roadmaps, sprints, and user-led design) to internal processes 
  • Bring structure to a team that’s motivated, talented, and ready for change 


How
you’ll succeed as a Senior Manager, People Operations
 

You’ve done the work and built the systems. But what sets you apart is your ability to stay hands-on while coaching others. You’ll need a strong sense of structure, paired with the empathy to bring your team along the journey. You know when to automate and when to connect — and you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves, dive into tools, or solve the occasional support ticket if it helps improve the whole. 

These key competences will set you up for success: 

  • 7–10 years in People Operations, with clear experience leading and building operational infrastructure 
  • Experience with HR systems (like HiBob, Lattice) and compliance frameworks 
  • Proven track record in workflow optimization and automation (bonus: AI experience) 
  • Strong coaching skills to mentor and develop internal leadership 
  • Familiarity with product thinking (roadmaps, iterative processes, backlog management)
